Civil War - Daily Class Work and Upcoming Assignments
December 11 - Open question period regarding anything about 1864 and 1865. Test #5 - Work on My Big Campus postings and blogs, semi-finals of Vocabulary Tournament. Assignments: Read Chapters 18 and 19 in the Catton reader. Also prepare for the final exam that will be given on Wednesday December 16.
December 9 - Ken Burns Episode 9 - Assassination. Assignments: post 10 photos of people, places, and things associated with the Lincoln assassination. Each photo should have a caption of 20-25 words. Test #5 will be next class over events 1864-1865.
December 5 - Ken Burns Episode 8 on the capture of Richmond and the Grant/Lee meeting at Appomattox Court House. Read excerpts from U.S. Grant's Memoirs. Reading comprehension questions on Appomattox.
December 3 - Answered any questions about Episode 6. 400-500 word summarization of Episode 6. William T. Sherman biography with comprehension reading questions on My Big Campus. A copy of the biography is available here: William T. Sherman. Assignment: Read and take detailed reading notes over Chapter 17 in the Catton book.
November 26 - Finished Ken Burns Episode 6. - Reviewed time line items of 1864, Vocabulary League final regular matches.
November 22 - Graded reading notes from Chapter 10, Constructed a five item matching round robin from the reading notes from Chapter 10. Began Ken Burns' Civil War episode 6 - Valley of the Shadow of Death. Assignment: Read carefully Chapter 11 of the Catton book and take detailed reading notes.
November 20 - Test over 1863 and specifically Gettysburg. Read and take notes over Chapter 10 from the Catton Book.

October 28 - Vocabulary quiz (40 questions), passed out map assignment that is due Tuesday November 5, Updated vocabulary list. Passed into day 2 at Gettysburg. Remember to blog and post on the discussion board.
October 24 - Round Robin on Civil War part 4. - CWVL Round 12 and 13 for 3rd period and round 14 for 4th period. Blog work on the Chrome Books (review requirements for the blog). Begin Ken Burns Part 5 "The Universe of Battle".
October 22 - CWVL make-up contests and round 11. Large group reading assignment for chapter 9 - "The South's Last Opportunity". Discussion about the situation for each side as of June 1863. Finish Ken Burns part 4.

October 8- Complete Episode 3 of Ken Burns Civil War, Assignment as Civil War reporter at Antietam to be completed. (This is a Google drive item that has been shared with you.) There will be a test over episodes #2 and #3,.

Discussed the strengths and weaknesses of both the Union and Confederate navies
Spent a great deal of time on Ken Burns Episode 3. Discussion about Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, Benjamin Butler and General Order 28, Seven Days Before Richmond, Slavery, Lincoln's problems with when to emancipate the slaves, and more issues with McClellan's incompetence.
An assignment that goes with the (Catton reader chapters 5 and 6) will be placed on My Big Campus and is due by Friday midnight.
Be certain to have your vocabulary cards ready for CWVL matches on Friday.
